Do you have a prescription for orthotic insoles? Good news: they may be partially reimbursed. But be aware that there are certain conditions you must meet to qualify for full reimbursement.
Prescription required
To receive reimbursement from Social Security, a prescription is required. With this prescription, you are entitled to:
• 60% of the Social Security contribution base (BRSS)
Prices by shoe size:
• Pointure < 28 : 25,88€ la paire
• Sizes 28–37: €28.04
• Size > 37: €28.86
Example: For a size 40, the reimbursement is €17.31 (i.e., €28.86 × 60%).
Frequency of treatment:
• Children under 16: one pair every 6 months
• Adults (16 and older): one pair per year
Health insurance: an essential tool
It’s often your supplemental health insurance that makes the difference:
• Some health insurance providers offer an annual flat rate (ranging from €50 to €200)
• Others cover a percentage of the Social Security rate, up to 500% ombree
For example, at 500%, this could amount to a refund of up to €144.30 per pair.
Some health insurance providers offer specific plans for people with diabetes, including full coverage for orthotic insoles. Be sure to review your coverage or adjust your policy if necessary.
